In the year 2000, the band Blink 182 stormed the alternative rock scene in the Philippines and as a person who looks into music as a borderless and continuously growing form of art, Blink's loudness really caught my taste too. The song "I Miss You" by this band was released in the market in 2003 but only in 2007 that I realized that this song can be used as a "senti" (sentimental) tool for someone who is missing the person who he or she unexpectedly values most.
The song was introduced to me by a girl named Jane. She's also from Batangas here in the Philippines and because in the year 2007 the mp3 technology was only starting to boom, lending earphones were pretty common in sharing the music an individual is interested with to his or her friend. As I can remember, she shared the song to me through her other pair of earphone and I guess that started why and how I got interested to this girl that every time I hear "I Miss You"'s drum intro followed by its distinctive bass pattern, it really makes me, guess what... miss her!
For the record, missing her made me realize, despite our differences in many ways, how much I love her. After five years of our "happy love", she decided for us to part ways. And because in my heart she really is my one true love, I stubbornly decided to come back. Come what may...
I am always missing her and always loving her. Maybe this message will take awhile for her to read because she's only a seldom user of the internet, but if ever she reads this, I really hope that she gets the message my heart is trying to tell her.
Truly, after overhearing this Blink 182 song on TV, I am convinced that this really is a "Senti" tool. I am a 95-kilo and overweight (rated as an "obese 2"..oh my!) grown man and I never expected to be sentimental just because of such an emotional low-toned song from a band whose reputation was not that too good in those days. But in fairness to them, "I Miss You" is one of the best songs of the 2000's.
